Lower Loveday Street - Student Accommodation

Morgan Ashurst is continuing to pioneer the development of innovative and economical student accommodation with the delivery of a 609-bed student accommodation scheme for Derwent Living in Birmingham’s city centre.

The contract figure represents a 15 per cent reduction on the original tendered build-cost after Morgan Ashurst changed the original build philosophy from steel-framed to traditional load-bearing masonry and incorporated modular bathroom pods into the design.

The pod system is a method that Morgan Ashurst has pioneered for some time.  The method reflects the company’s commitment to driving new industry practices such as CLIP (Construction Lean Improvement Programme), where a ‘lean’ approach is achieved by balancing the use of people, resources and materials to reduce costs, eliminate waste and boost productivity.
